I admit it. I hate her. The funny thing is I don't (even) know 11-year old Kinjal Shah but if the news that she'd just been crowned Junior World Mental Mathematics Champion is anything to go by, then I hate her even more. Ha ha ha, don't give me your evil eye, I was just joking lah.
Truth is I am quite taken by Kinjal's accomplishment. Singapore kids who can count are a dime a dozen but this wonder lass can count mentally! Apparently, Kinjal can do multiplication, square roots, stem sums, that sort of fuzzy stuff without pen or paper. Shit, this girl is unreal.
I would dearly like to have her by my side when I am out on my shopping rounds - no need to fiddle with the calculator on my iPhone for Kinjal would be able to tell me what is the net price of my discounted objet d'shopping before I can say "how much is . . . . "
