Bird brains, anyone?

When a photo of Miley Cyrus & Co making "ching chong" faces at the camera surfaced on the internet, OCA, a national organization in the United States dedicated to advancing the social and political welfare of Asian Pacific Americans, immediately called on the singer-actress to apologise with this lengthy tirade:

"The photograph of Miley Cyrus and other individuals slanting their eyes currently circulating the Internet is offensive to the Asian Pacific American community and sets a terrible example for her many young fans. This image falls within a long and unfortunate history of people mocking and denigrating individuals of Asian descent. Not only has Miley Cyrus and the other individuals in the photograph encouraged and legitimized the taunting and mocking of people of Asian descent, she has also insulted her many Asian Pacific American fans. The inclusion of an Asian Pacific American individual in the photo does not make it acceptable."

Seriously, are we bovered? I am not and I am of Asian descent. I also think the OCA's official statement is overly PC ; they should just simply cut to the chase by saying - "Say sorree you bitch, or else . . . "

But more seriously, I think we have more important stuff to expend our energy on, like the 23-year-old man of Meadow Heights, Melbourne who was caught with two live pigeons stuffed into his tights thus giving new gravitas to "budgie smugglers".

Again, we are treated to (more) official-speak from the Australian custom spokesman Richard Janeczko, "Wildlife smuggling is not only cruel to the animals involved, it poses a severe risk to the Australian environment and the health of the Australian community, it is important that people declare all animal and plant materials to customs and border protection when they enter Australia.'' when a straightforward "why you? why you? you stupid cuckoo" would have sufficed. Yeah, damn right. I feel so safe going to bed knowing the men in blue will be looking after our wild (side).

Hmmm, I wonder if this bird(brain) man will get to appear on Border Security? I want to hear him yell, "why me? why me? why me?"
